Rorate Mass

A Rorate Mass is a special Advent Mass celebrated before dawn in darkness, lit only by candles, honoring the Virgin Mary as the “Morning Star” who awaited Christ. Its name comes from the Lain introit “Rorate, caeli, desuper” (“Drop down dew, ye heavens”), symbolizing prayers for the Savior’s coming. As the Mas progresses, the rising sun gradually fills the church with light, mirroring the growing hope for Christ’s arrival.
